June 11 release of new EP marks the start of a very, very busy year
Band launches online video series: “The (Un) Real Lives” of Courage My Love
Homeskool Prom Records / Warner Music Canada recording artist Courage My Love have announced June 11, 2013 as the release date of their latest EP, “Becoming”. Recorded in Toronto with producer Chris Perry, “Becoming”’s 8 songs showcase the band’s rip-roaring rock. The first single from the EP will be the track “You Don’t Know How” which will be accompanied by a video shot by award-winning director Warren Sonoda. Fans can purchase the single starting today at iTunes. The lyric video for “You Don’t Know How” debuts today online at alternativepress.com . The release of “Becoming” will be followed by a series of live dates in Southern Ontario. The band’s first full-fledged Canadian tour is expected to be announced for the Fall.
The Kitchener, Ontario-based Courage My Love is led by singer/guitarist Mercedes Arn-Horn and her twin sister Phoenix (drums/vocals). The group is rounded out by newly recruited bassist Brandon Lockwood. To mark the recording of the new EP, Courage My Love have launched the online episodic video series “The (Un) Real Lives of Courage My Love” which is posted on the band’s Youtube page www.youtube.com/ilovecouragemylove . A new episode of the series will be uploaded every Friday at 8pm ET.
Courage My Love were discovered in a local battle of the bands contest and have since cut their teeth and built their audience with fiery live performances. They have torn up the stages of a number of key festivals like the Vans Warped Tour, NXNE and Canadian Music Week while playing alongside the likes of Paramore, Tokyo Police Club, The Pretty Reckless and A Day To Remember. Courage My Love recently became the youngest band ever to make it into the finals at the Indie Week Music Festival not once, but two years in a row while Mercedes was voted “Best Guitarist” at Indie Week 2011. In the April 2012 issue of Alternative Press Magazine, Courage My Love were pegged as one of the Top 100 Bands To Know in 2012. The group’s debut EP, “For Now”, was released in Canada in the Fall of 2011 and in Japan in the Summer of 2012. The Japanese release was followed up by a live showcase in the land of the Rising Sun six months later.
The band have also produced a number of popular broadcast and viral videos (over 3.3 million views on the band’s youtube channel) as well as the podcast series, “Homeskool Detention,” that can be heard on their website, www.ilovecouragemylove.com.
