JULIE CHRISTMAS returns
with her first solo material since 2010
New song “Not Enough” out now on Red Creek Recordings
Playing exclusive set at Roadburn (NL) this week
JULIE CHRISTMAS (from Brooklyn, NY) has returned to the international stage with new song “Not Enough“, her first solo material since releasing The Bad Wife album in 2010. “Not enough” is out now on Red Creek Recordings (Cult Of Luna, Birds In Row etc). Her new song is available HERE (https://orcd.co/juliechristmas).
“I started to sing “Not Enough” while riding in a car on the highway in Brooklyn and seeing all these water towers along the tops of the buildings. Some of them are so beautiful! But I like the dented ones just as much. The sun was blazing hot that day and throwing crazy shadows under the towers. In my head, for a minute, It struck me that the towers were very, very brave. They were there ready to do what they were intended to do against incredible heat. And more importantly, they were there all the time. If they can do it, I can do it too.
This song is now out and is released under my name but it was first written by Andrew Schneider and turned into what it is now by these incredible people: Johannes Persson, John LaMacchia, Chris Enriquez, Laura Pleasants and Tom Tierney.
Men among men!” – Julie
Julie Christmas will play an exclusive set at the Roadburn Festival in Tilburg, the Netherlands, main stage at the 013 venue on Thursday April 20. She’ll be joined by Cult of Luna comrade Johannes Persson on guitar for this special Roadburn one-off.
Julie adds: “Old and New. Powerful and Weak. Beautiful and Ugly. They all meet at Roadburn 2023.”
About Julie Christmas:
Julie Christmas hails from Brooklyn, New York. Christmas is her legal middle name; she was named so after the fact that she was born on Christmas day. She is the former lead singer of defunct Brooklyn-based noise rock band Made Out of Babies and the former lead singer of defunct post-metal supergroup Battle of Mice. In 2010, she released a critically acclaimed solo album titled The Bad Wife (Rising Pulse Records). In 2016, she became a featured member on Cult of Luna’s Mariner album.
Spin magazine about Julie Christmas: “Whether Christmas is headbanging or drowning, The Bad Wife is remarkably intimate, with the singer letting her voice crack, squeak, and gasp for air, finding the more revealing notes in between the notes.”
