Following the success of Dark Waters, Delain returns with a new EP that solidifies their place on the metal scene while keeping their unmistakable sonic signature intact. “Dark Waters” had already marked a pivotal moment for the band, showcasing fresh energy and a partially renewed lineup while staying true to the symphonic metal roots that made them iconic. Now, with Dance with the Devil, Delain delves deeper into the themes and sounds that captivated fans in their previous release. By exploring new territory and displaying an even greater musical maturity.

The new tracks on Dance with the Devil

This new EP, the band’s second release with its revitalized lineup under the direction of founder Martijn Westerholt, spans an exciting mix of new material, reimagined favorites, live recordings, and instrumental bonuses. It opens with two studio tracks, “Dance with the Devil” and “The Reaping”. Both stand out for their emotional intensity, blending anger and sorrow through infectious synth melodies and heavy, modern riffs.

Dance with the Devil explores complex emotions, portraying resilience and suffering within the context of an intense and destructive relationship. “The Reaping”

The imagery evokes a feeling of a world in decline, on a reckless path toward chaos and self-destruction. The lyrics urge listeners to confront the dark reality of our current trajectory. And question the choices that might lead us to disaster. Delain’s use of vivid language and a powerful arrangement underscores the urgency of their message, making “The Reaping” not only musically compelling but also socially relevant.
