Review by Tony Cannella
Ever since the release of their 2015 debut, “The Life I Remember”, Once Human has quickly become one of my favorite extreme metal bands, so it was with great joy, anticipation, and utter enthusiasm that I dove headfirst into their new album “Evolution”. “Flock of Flesh” opens things and is as technical as it is brutal. The band has really upped their game on this one and vocalist Lauren Hart continues to be a phenomenal singer for this band as she combines clean singing with her brutal vocals. Along with the aggression of the music the band definitely has a technical element to their music. Other highlights include: “Eye of Chaos”, “Mass Murder Frenzy”, “Dark Matter” and “Paragon”. There is no denying that Once Human has progressed from “The Life I Remember” to “Evolution”. “Evolution” is a fitting title because Once Human has evolved into a pounding metal killing machine on this new album. The band is firing on all cylinders and “Evolution” is as good as it gets.
